Under 19s

Under 19s footy at the Blacks offers our younger players a fantastic footy experience on and off the field.

The opportunity to play elite amateur footy, at a Club located in the beautiful surrounds of Carlton/Parkville, whilst developing lifelong friendships for students new to Melbourne or attending University. 2025 marks a new chapter in the story of our Under 19s program. Aided by the hard work of a dedicated sub-committee throughout the off-season, the Uni Blacks Under 19s of 2025 will be well placed to give all players the best opportunities to taste success on and off the field. 

On field, the Club is excited to announce that Harry Balazsy has been appointed as Under 19s coach for 2025. New to the Club, Harry was a stand-out candidate and appealed as a perfect 'win-win' fit with the Club and our players in the Under 19s. A Bachelor and Diploma of Sport Coaching and Development, numerous junior teams already coached under his belt, and a highly valued internship as a Development Coach at Hawthorn FC and Calder Cannons, we believe will hold Harry in great stead to blossom as a coach, whilst also giving our players the best chance to perform well come Saturday. 

The Club has also identified the need to have a clear and defined pathway for our younger players to develop their skills at the Under 19 level, along in their journey ultimately to Senior players. To support this, the Club is delighted to welcome Paddy Byrne into the role as Under 19s Pathway Manager. The Club is thrilled to secure Paddy in this role, who will focus on supporting younger players in our ranks and investing the resources in helping them become the best footballers they can be. 

Not to mention the support from Senior Coach Dale Bower - who returns for his 6th season as Head Coach - being involved week to week in supporting Harry and Paddy, match day support from Footy Operations lead by Jeremy Hua, and consistent check ins and engagement with the Senior group led by Captain Campbell Moorfield (social events, weekly Thursday night dinners at the Clyde Hotel, player mentors) the Uni Blacks Under 19s of 2025 will be an exciting and vibrant place to be in 2024 and the Under 19s will be a huge part of it.
